Maintenance

Eilersen digital load cell weighing systems require no maintenance as there are no mounting and protection devices to adjust and keep clean and no fuses, gaskets, bearings etc. to change. Also, the Eilersen load cells contain no moving parts.

In the (unlikely) event of failure e.g. if a cable is cut then the Eilersen digital weighing system will send or indicate an error code for fast and simple troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting

The following guideline can be used only for Eilersen weighing systems with modules (type 96XX, 20XX, 35XX and 4XXX). If you have a system with a weighing terminal type MCE9625L or MCE3525 which shows an error code, please refer to the operating manual.

If your weighing system does not perform as expected or if you receive an error code or see a LED indicating an error, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Check if the weighing system is supplied by a stable 24 Vdc, 2A power supply
  2. If possible from the error code or LED, find out which load cell is causing the problem or if the LED is indicating a faulty connection to other equipment (e.g. the Profibus network)
  3. Try to connect the load cell causing the problem to one of the other load cell connectors and see if the fault follows the load cell
  4. If the fault follows the load cell, check if the cable is OK and check if there is a bad connection by the load cell or connection to the electronics. If this is not the case then the load cell has a defect
  5. If the fault does not follow the load cell, then the electronic module has a defect
  6. If you don’t know which load cell or what is creating the problem, then inspect the physical condition of each cell and its mounting
  7. Check if the problem is mechanical by looking for resistance to free movement (or too much movement) of the mounting arrangements and load cells including any external connections to the structure. Check if mechanical stress is applying tension or torsion on the load cells
  8. Determine if any vibration or influence is present caused by other systems operating close by or connected
  9. Contact your supplier of the weighing system for further assistance
