Why you should use Eilersen load cells for big silos and vessels?

The heavy duty compression load cell type DH from Eilersen is ideally suited for large silos and vessels. The DH load cell is a shockproof digital load cell developed for heavy duty use in extreme environments.

The DH load cell is also particularly suited for silos and vessels located in hazardous areas. An ATEX approved version of this Load Cell is available (Zone 1, 2, 21, 22) version type DHA. ATEX is the framework for controlling explosive atmospheres and the standards of equipment and protective systems used in them. It is based on two EU Directives – ATEX 127 and ATEX 95.

The high tolerance of up to 400% overload when compared to standard load cells provides easier and a more simple mechanical installation. The DH has a massive range of up to 500 tons while still offering a competitive accuracy.

Furthermore, the load cell is hermetically sealed to IP68 and is available with cable lengths of up to 100 meters which provides increased flexibility for location of the weighing electronics. The load cell cable is a single wire coaxial cable compared to the standard multiple 6 or 7 wire cable from a typical strain gage load cell. The Eilersen load cell cable can also be replaced at any time and the calibration is independent of the cable length.

The load cell is supplied pre-calibrated which is a big advantage in applications where it is difficult to obtain suitable calibration weights. The non-contact capacitive sensor located inside the load cell boasts zero moving parts. This enables the load cell to tolerate shocks, torsion and very high overloads and side loads - the load cell has an extraordinary high tolerance of up to 400% overload.
